All done!

My backlog is now officially completed.  Here you can see my OmniFocus screen, with zero “Past” items and zero “Today” items.  OmniFocus writes you a neat little message that, quite frankly, I’ve never seen before:

Today
no items

You can add a new due item by tapping the plus button.

Isn’t that rewarding?  It’s almost like OmniFocus is saying “Wow!  You did it!  I’m so proud of you!”

Disclosure: I didn’t do everything.  Instead, I removed the old unrealistic due dates from some of my most ancient overdue tasks.  I rescheduled some, while I left others without any due date.  So this is really no great accomplishment.  However, it sure feels good.

This might look like accounting trickery.  Well, it really is accounting trickery.  However, it moves me from an organization system where I am constantly catching up, and to a system where I am consciously planning what I will do next.
